Greetings from Chin Leong and Alice, our COSBT missionaries for Phnom Penh, Cambodia! For this week's illuminations' update, we bring you news on the work in Cambodia as well as prayer needs. So read on and pray along with us!

Pioneered by our missionaries, Chin Leong, his wife Alice as well as three local missionaries, the work in Phnom Penh is located at the west of Phnom Penh which is a five minutes walk to the slums, seven minutes to the university, high school, primary schools and five private schools. COSBT has been managing the NHO Orphanages for more than 10 years.  The Church planting project was started by Chin Leong and Alice three years ago. Tasked to help in the NHO orphanages, the couple obeyed the Lord’s calling and obediently served in the NHO for two years before moving on to the church planting ministry.

Key ministries include partnering other churches such as Sen Sok Church, NHO ministry & Jesus Vision Church to do training. Church planting efforts is also currently running such as opening of cell groups in Phnom Penh and its neighbouring provinces. Last, there’s also the education work in imparting life skills and knowledge such as language and computer classes as well as a bible training hub to equip youths in empowering them for ministry work.

Greetings!

Our 2 weekends of COSBT Missions Festival finally concluded last Sunday and we would like to thank all brothers and sisters who have contributed through their giving and prayers to this missions fund raising event. We would also like to appreciate the fest committee from the COSBT missions committee to the various stall members! Last, not to forget our church administration team who selflessly assisted the fest team in making this event a huge success!

Missions have always been an integral part of the church. Christ died that all might be saved and the existence of the church serves to propagate His love for all men. In this post of Illuminations, we bring you a harvest update on one of the mission fields, Khon Kaen, Thailand.

Through the work of our missionaries and support by the various mission committees, we see lives changed and transformation taking place in the fields. Indeed, the church has this great privilege in being a part of His great harvest! So let’s be united as a church and receive this great commission in praying unceasingly, giving to the work and going forth to the fields!

                                                            ***
Thailand

Located in Khon Kaen province (North-eastern Thailand), the work in Thailand centres primarily in church planting which includes setting up of village churches, children ministry, a small transient Chinese teachers’ fellowship and ad-hoc collaboration efforts with other missionaries.

COSBT currently have 2 full-time missionaries (husband-wife team) based in Khon Kaen, Vincent Lai and Judy Ng. They also have 2 adorable young children, Marielle and Elliot.

As a couple, Vincent and Judy have been working with Thailand church planting works from 2007. Thailand, especially Khon Kaen was conceived as a designated mission field by COSBT for various reasons, primarily due to the way the Holy Spirit led church planting efforts in the Mekong region and Brother Vincent’s desire and vision for the Isaan peoples.
Family on a mission! Vincent, Judy & their little ones.

Prayer Pointers

1.The Churches

Pray for our 3 Churches in District Khao Suan Kwang (Church Ban Na Poh & Church Ban Pa Wai Nang) and District Nong Rua (Church Nong Rua). Pray that the three churches will be a light and blessing to the villages and communities and that we will form good and long lasting relationship among these villages. Pray that our Churches will go indigenous as we continue to disciple and train them. Pray for our Children ministries in all our Churches. Pray as we sow into these children lives, they will know Jesus intimately and love Him passionately. Pray we will raise up the next generation of leaders among the children.

2. Souls Transformation

Pray for more families (not just individuals) to accept Christ. Pray for God's protection for our Church members despite family persecutions, relatives and their neighbours. Pray that God will speak and bring back those who left the churches. Pray for God's children to follow the Great Commission.

3. New Harvest
Pray for our weekly outreaches and home visitations to other villages every Wednesday and Thursday. Pray for His signs and wonders to follow us wherever we go and souls to be saved. Pray for more labourers to be sent to God's harvest field. Pray for effectiveness in reaching out to younger populace to sustain aging church demographics.

4. The workers

Pray for our co-workers (Por, Thanom and Nong). Pray that they will work in unity and passion and for renewed strength everyday. Pray that we will remain faithful and focus on His calling. Pray for protection and journey mercy as we travel from place to place and to develop more local co-workers of different age segments and with linguistic abilities in both English and Thai.

Indeed the harvest is plentiful! Please continue to pray for the work in Thailand and keep the missionaries in your prayer list at all times!

Missionaries Retreat 2014

Every year,  COSBT Mission Director will make it a point to invite and re-call back our missionaries (from Cambodia and Thailand) to attend church renewal camp and thereafter, 3D2N Missionary Retreat. Though our Thailand missionaries (Vincent, Judy and their 2 kids Marielle and Elliot) were not able to join us due to their Visa extension process, invitations sent to encourage the committee fields members to join the retreat was fantastic.

This year, our M-retreat @ KSL Hotel (JB), we had the biggest group (16 Adults and 5 Kids) attending. Wonderful time of fellowship, praising and worshiping our Lord, praying and brain-storming together during session. Not forgetting the delicious delicacies of food Malaysia gotta offer. Overall, the retreat was a success and thankful to those who make this possible by coming. Hoping for a greater participant and involvement next year too when invitation is send out again. Lastly, a BIG Thank You for upholding us in prayers.

Power Kids Church (PKC) Mission Trip to Philippines - Ormoc & Cebu

In the month of May, our PKC Team of 8 members led by Sis Grace went to Philippines (Ormoc and Cebu) to conduct Children Camp, Crusades, feeding program and Youth Fellowship. During the 5days trip, the team ministered to approximately 350 children, 60 Youths and 40 Adults. Highlight of the trip, witnessing the after effect of Typhoon Haiyan in Ormoc, though comforted to see that the local people are slowly getting back to their daily life routine. During ministry, healing took place: people with backache, eye-sight issue, chest-pain, heart problem, breathing problem, mobility issue due to fracture bone were healed and all this miracles were witnessed by many on-lookers. Christians brothers and sisters recommitting their lives and relationship with the Lord. It's wonderful and easy to flow when the team were led by the Holy Spirit to minister. Indeed, God presence was with the them throughout this trip. All Glory to His Name.

A visit to Youth Hub (Phnom Penh)

It's been a while since we updated illuminations and we apologize for the long absence. Basically, the team was caught up with the drills of life such as parenting, work and ministries. Moving forward, we endeavour to bring you more news on the fields. =>

For this post, we visited Phnom Penh, Cambodia and did a video interview with our folks and their work. As you sit back and enjoy the interview, we hope you would join us and play a part in the work of Cambodia, be it in the marketplace, mission trips and giving. As always, prayers are paramount in this work we are embarking. Pray unceasingly!
